Follow-up surgery for acid attack victim

GEORGE TOWN (MAy 28, 2012): Acid attack victim Tan Hui Linn will leave for South Korea to undergo the crucial second phase of her rehabilitation treatment conducted by a team of 10 doctors on June 30.
Jelutong MP Jeff Ooi, who is assisting Tan, 20, said yesterday that the treatment to remove scars is a follow-up to the surgery she went through at the JK Plastic Surgery Centre in Seoul four months ago.
Also present were Tan, the centre’s founding medical director Joo Kwon and Korea Health Industry Development Institute’s Asean director-general Kyung-won Jang.
Joo Kwon said the second phase involves five or six minor procedures to remove the scars around her eyes, nose and chin.
Tan, an accountancy student, said: “I am scared because this is the main operation so I must be mentally prepared.”
